Wingate Healthcare’s skilled nursing homes and post acute care units offer excellent care for individuals recovering from stroke-related disability. All services work on a continuum of restoring the stroke survivor’s function, providing compensation strategies and adaptation of the environment. Stroke recovery services include computer-assisted cognitive and vocational training, community-based training, and home evaluation.
Our Occupational Therapy team helps stroke survivors restore their daily activities, such as dressing, bathing, cooking, and managing money. Our Speech Therapy team helps restore their critical ability of communication, assisting with expressing themselves and understanding others. These therapists also treat swallowing and eating abilities, as well as impairments in cognition such as judgment, reasoning and problem solving. Our Physical Therapy team helps stroke survivors restore mobility from their wheelchairs or walkers to independent ambulation.
Stroke rehabilitation is offered at all Wingate Healthcare facilities. Our Springfield location offers a highly specialized program in its Center of Excellence for Stroke Rehabilitation. Wingate Healthcare’s specialized Neuro-Rehabilitation Center at Worcester provides stroke treatment for the challenging behavioral health needs of some stroke survivor residents.
