Needham Testimonials

This has been a most remarkable and trying year for me and my family, beginning with my unexpected need for heart surgery and continuing with my extended recuperation at your facility.

As you know, I am a surgeon at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. I am a healer by profession, and to be put in the position of being a patient was out of my comfort zone, to say the least.

The staff at Wingate at Needham treated me and my family with the utmost care, compassion and professionalism. They encouraged and cheered me on to full and complete recovery, despite a few setbacks. They educated and trained my wife in the care I would need when I got home. The personal care I received was impeccable and truly made my recovery an attainable goal.

I am happy to report that I am back seeing patients and performing surgeries…..back to being a healer!

If not for the wonderful care and attention that I received at Wingate at Needham I would not have had such a successful recovery.

I can’t believe that my husband is ready to come home! The short term care he received was compassionate and personalized, and his room looked like it belonged in a five-star hotel. I truly thank each and every member of the talented Wingate rehabilitation team for their devotion and commitment to helping my husband recover. I am also grateful for the understanding and support they showed me each time I visited with him. The words ‘thank you’ are simply not enough to express our family’s gratitude for all the Wingate staff has done.

My mother and I want to express our sincere gratitude to Wingate team members for their compassion and commitment to providing tender loving care to my dad during his lengthy illness. When my dad was initially admitted to Wingate at Needham, he was debilitated, deconditioned, weak and depressed. He was diagnosed with Metastatic Disease and not given much hope.

In a short time, and with the help of a very dedicated physical therapy team, he was in a wheelchair, learning how to take care of himself. Shortly thereafter, he was walking with a walker and caring for his own personal needs, of course with some assistance. He soon returned home with my mom.

My parents celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary while my dad was a Wingate resident, and the unit secretary baked a cake and planned a small celebration. It was so unexpected but so appreciated. As a family, we have not stopped praising the Wingate staff and their continued commitment to reaching the goal of getting my dad back home.

When my dad returned to Wingate at Needham again, seven months later, his prognosis wasn't good. It was a very sad time for our family, but your staff again rose to the top. They welcomed him back and treated him with dignity. The caring touch of the CNA's and the warmth of your nursing staff was unparalleled by any that we had experienced during his illness. Not only was my dad well cared for but also my Mom. Your staff held her hand, brought her food, and reached out to her, comforting her and helping her cope.

After my dad passed away they continued to reach out to her. I have a small family but the day my dad came to Wingate at Needham, my family grew. Thank you seems trite, but it is all we can say to the wonderful, caring staff at your facility.

When we think back, it’s difficult to process all that has happened but we know my dad had exceptional care at Wingate. Thanks to all your staff.
